On 19 July 2010, Director General of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP) signed the Decision No. 1347/QĐ-SHTT on granting Geographical Indication Certificate No. 00020 for the product “NÓN LÁ HUẾ” (HUE Cononut-palm conical hat). The People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province is recognized as the Organization for management of GI of HUẾ for the coconut-palm leaf conical hat.

“The ASEAN Regional Workshop on Patent Search and Classification” was opened at Hanoi Meliã Hotel in the morning of 03 August, 2010.

On 25 June 2010, the Director General of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP) signed Decision No. 1150 on granting Geographical Indication (GI) Certificate No. 00019 for the product “MẮM TÔM HẬU LỘC” (HAU LOC SHRIMP PASTE). The People’s Committee of Hậu Lộc District has become management organization of GI Hậu Lộc for the product Hậu Lộc shrimp paste.

On 18 May 2010, the Closing Ceremony of Swiss - Vietnamese Intellectual Property Project was held in Hanoi. The event was attended by Vice Minister of Science and Technology, H.E. Dr. Le Dinh Tien, Charge d’Affaires a.i., Embassy of Switzerland in Hanoi, Mr. Alain Burdet, Director General of National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, Mr. Tran Viet Hung, Deputy Director General of Copyright Office of Vietnam, Mr. Vu Ngoc Hoan, Co-Directors of the SVIP Project and representatives from relevant Ministries and agencies of Viet Nam, donors and beneficiaries of the Project.
