On 16 January 2009, the Court of Appeals – Supreme People’s Court in Ho Chi Minh City held a review trial of the administrative case of the suit by Vien Son Company against Decision No. 1352/QD-SHTT dated 29 October 2007 of the National Office of Intellectual Property about the invalidation of Certificate for trademark registration No. 77256 for mark “KINGMAX”. The Judge accepted the appeal of the NOIP, partly adjusted the judgment of first instance that had not accepted the suit by Vien Son Company and kept the Decision No. 1352/QD-SHTT.

From 23 to 25 November 2008, a high level delegation of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) headed by Mr. Li Yuguang, Deputy Commissioner and Chinese Trademark Office (CTMO) under the management of the State Administration of Industry and Commerce of China headed by Ms. Guo Lianlian, Deputy Director General, paid an official visit to Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi within the framework of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of intellectual property. The delegation also consisted of high level officials and experienced experts of SIPO and CTMO.

Being allowed by Minister of Science and Technology and People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, the National Conference on Management of IP in 2008 was organized from 24 to 26 November 2009 in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong province. H.E.Mr. Nguyen Quan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology attended the conference.

On 13 November 2008, a high level delegation of the National Committee of Science and Technology of Laos headed by Mr. Maydorn Chanthanasinh, Vice President, visited the NOIP.

From 03 to 07 November 2008, in Hoi An, Quang Nam province, the NOIP hosted to organize the 30th ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC) and Head meeting of ASEAN’s IP offices. The meeting was attended by representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam and ASEAN Secretariat. The Vietnamese delegation was headed by NOIP’s Director General Tran Viet Hung.
