KIPO’S OFFICIAL VISIT TO VIETNAM AND THE SIGNING CEREMONY OF THE MoU ON IP COOPERATION
A high ranking Delegation of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) headed by Mr. Jung-Sik KOH, KIPO’s Commissioner, paid an official visit to the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP) on 23 November 2009. The Director General of the NOIP, Mr. Tran Viet Hung, and Heads of NOIP Divisions received the Delegation and held a meeting where the two Offices exchanged information on their recent development of intellectual property system and international issues concerned by the Parties.
On this occasion, Mr. Tran Viet Hung and Mr. Jung-Sik KOH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between the two Offices, which marked a new stage in the cooperation of the two countries in the field of intellectual property.
Under the MoU, the Parties shall develop the cooperation in: (i) exchanging information on legal issues, operation and organization, especially information on the development of national intellectual property system; (ii) examining industrial property applications, developing and exploiting industrial property databases; (iii) building capacity of working staff and improving public awareness on intellectual property rights, namely organization of training courses, seminars, workshops and study visits on intellectual property; (iv) initiating and implementing activities to disseminate patent information, encourage creative activities, protect and commercialize property assets.
