On 11 and 13 March 2009, the NOIP and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized the seminars on “Development and utilization of IP information in Viet Nam” in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City within the framework of a technical assistance project between Viet Nam and Japan.

The technical assistance project between Viet Nam and Japan “Utilization of IP information in Viet Nam” (UTIPINFO) sponsored by the Japanese Government, has been implemented in the NOIP since 01 January 2005 and will be completed on 31 March 2009. Over the past 04 years, the Project has developed and utilized an IP information system in Viet Nam, including the computer system installed with applicable software such as the information search system for examination of applications, e-lib system for published industrial property information, e-filing and e-receiving system for industrial property applications.

The seminar was attended and delivered the opening speech by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Quan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Deputy Chief Representative of JICA in Ha Noi, Mr. Yasuhiro TOJO and Mr. Yoshitake KIHARA, Director General, Administration Department, Japan Patent Office. H.E. Mr. Vice Minister pressed: “The utilization of the IP information system will create a considerable contribution to the development of IP activities in Viet Nam and make the grant of IP protection titles in Viet Nam faster and more exact”.

The subjective assessment of the leadership of the Ministry of Science and Technology is an accurate conclusion about the success of the UTIPINFO project.
